Who doesn’t love a good Frozen Watermelon Drink?

OK. Maybe this isn’t really frozen, but it sure looks good!  On top of that, I love Rita’s accent.

I don’t know about you guys, but for me there is nothing that spells summer like watermelon.  Bundling the sweet goodness of watermelon into a watermelon drink just sounds mouth-watering!

This recipe is quick and easy, requiring only three ingredients to make. I might add some ice cubes to thicken it a bit, but what can I say… it isn’t my recipe!

A watermelon drink provides a healthy dose of:

  • Lycopene, a powerful antioxidant
  • Vitamin A, to improve eye health and boost immunity
  • Vitamin B6, to help the immune system promote antibodies
  • Vitamin C, to bolster the immune system’s fight against viruses and fight infections
  • Potassium, to help prevent muscle cramps

One cup of watermelon juice, the main component of this watermelon drink, contains only 71 calories.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Here's a tasty Strawberry Banana Smoothie made with three common ingredients. Milk. Banana. Strawberry. Smoothie. Yum!
Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1-1/2 cups strawberries, frozen
  • 1 banana, in pieces, frozen
Instructions
  1. Place milk in a blender
  2. Set speed at medium
  3. Place cover on blender
  4. Feed strawberries and banana through hole in top
  5. Increase speed to high
  6. Blend until smooth

 

Strawberry Banana Smoothie Ingredients

 
Milk for Strawberry Banana SmoothieMilk is a great source of casein and whey proteins. It also adds vitamin D, calcium and riboflavin to your smoothie.
You can use whole milk, or substitute 2% or 1% milk to reduce the fat in your smoothie.
Other options for milk include goat’s milk, soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk and rice milk.

 

Banana Strawberry SmoothieStrawberries are sweet as well as healthy. Whether frozen or fresh, they make your smoothie tasty and colorful. Remove the green tops if you are using fresh strawberries in your smoothie.

Banana Smoothie with Orange Juice
Recipe type: Fruit Smoothie
Serves: 2
 
The smoothness of a banana combine with the creaminess of yogurt and the sweet tang of orange juice to make this a very special smoothie.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup orange juice, well chilled
  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • 1-1/2 cups banana slices, frozen
Instructions
  1. Pour orange juice into a blender
  2. Add yogurt to blender
  3. Cover and blend on medium speed
  4. Add frozen banana through hole in blender top
  5. Increase speed to high
  6. Blend until smooth

This got me thinking that it would probably be pretty easy to make my own smoothies but I don’t have fresh fruit in my apartment!
