Strawberry Banana SmoothieBananas are a primary component of many tasty smoothies. Bananas can be used fresh or frozen.
To freeze bananas, peel them and break them into chunks. Place them into freezer bags for later use. Frozen bananas help thicken smoothies better than fresh bananas.
Bananas add plenty of potassium to your diet, as well as iron, magnesium and vitamin B6.

Apple Juice SmoothieApple Juice has a myriad of health benefits. It is rich in anti oxidants which help in the prevention of various diseases. It also has a lot of Vitamin C which can boost the immune system.
Blending apple juice into smoothies is highly recommended for creating a thinner consistency. After blending, it is best to immediately consume the smoothie as letting it sit for awhile will change the texture. In case the smoothie comes out too thin because of the apple juice, just add some ice cubes.

Adding ice to a blender can create quite a mess, so be sure to cover the container when blending ice. It is best to feed the ice through the opening in the blender top. You can also substitute crushed ice for cubes, as this is easier on a blender.
Who would have thought that frozen water could play such an important part in a smoothie?
