I only have frozen mixed fruit, but are there other ingredients to use to make a frozen mixed fruit smoothie?
Secrets to A Frozen Mixed Fruit Smoothie
Making a smoothie from frozen fruit makes a lot of sense. In fact, one of the best secrets for making a thick fruit smoothie is to start with frozen fruit.
But if you try to just put a bunch of frozen fruit into a blender in hopes of making a smoothie, you’ll be a bit disappointed. You’ll end up with a lot of noise, big chucks of frozen fruit, and not so much ‘smooth’.
The secret to making a good frozen mixed fruit smoothie is to add some liquid to the mix. If you are starting with a lot of frozen fruit, you’ll most likely want to start with some milk. You may also find it easier to blend if you thaw about a cup of the frozen fruit before you start.
Here’s a recipe I’d suggest:
Frozen Mixed Fruit Smoothie
- 1 cup frozen mixed fruit, thawed
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 fresh banana, 1″ chunks
- 1 cup frozen mixed fruit, frozen
Place the thawed fruit, milk, and banana chunks into the blender, then ‘pulse’ blend a few times until fruit and milk are well mixed. Increase the speed to high, and feed the frozen fruit through the opening in the top of the blender, a few pieces at a time. Blend until smooth.
