Cocoa Banana SmoothieBananas are a primary component of many tasty smoothies. Bananas can be used fresh or frozen.
To freeze bananas, peel them and break them into chunks. Place them into freezer bags for later use. Frozen bananas help thicken smoothies better than fresh bananas.
Bananas add plenty of potassium to your diet, as well as iron, magnesium and vitamin B6.

Chocolate Banana SmoothieCocoa Powder adds an intense chocolate flavor to a smoothie.
Cocoa powder is made from the refined solids of the cocoa bean. These cocoa beans are hulled and ground into a paste. the paste is refined, removing the fatty cocoa butter. The remaining solids are ground into cocoa powder.
Cocoa powder is slightly acidic and bitter, so a little bit goes a long ways. It contains a healthy portion of fiber, protein, riboflavin and zinc.

Cinnamon not only adds taste. It also has been used for centuries as an herbal remedy. Cinnamon is claimed to have anti-clotting properties. It helps to regulate blood sugar by slowing the release of food from the stomach. Finally, it has antiseptic properties that aid in the prevention of urinary tract infections.
