The Frozen Margarita has become common in bars and restaurants all across America.  Most of these are made from pre-made mixes using frozen margarita machines that blend the frozen slush at the perfect temperature to keep the drink frozen but not frozen solid.

Most of us will never be able to afford these machines for use in our own homes.  But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your own homemade Frozen Margarita, made the old fashion way, using raw ingredients.  Here’s one way to do just that.

Frozen Margarita Requirement List

  • 1 1/2 oz. 100% agave tequila
  • 1/2 oz. orange liqueur
  • 1/2 oz. lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz. lime juice
  • A splash of simple syrup
  • A small dish of salt
  • 1 c. ice
  • A lime
  • A measuring jigger
  • A blender
  • A large margarita glass (or cocktail glass)

Step by Step Frozen Margarita Instructions

  1. Frost the glass by placing it in the freezer a couple of hours ahead of time.
  2. Cover a small dish with a thin layer of salt.
  3. Cut the lime in half. Set one half aside and cut a wedge from the other half.
  4. Rub the lime wedge around the rim of the chilled margarita glass, leaving an even ring of moisture along the outer edge.
  5. Turn the glass upside down onto the dish of salt and twist until a thin layer of salt adheres to the outer rim. Turn the glass right side up and set aside.
  6. Add one and one-half ounces of tequila to the blender, then add one-half ounce of orange liqueur.  Pour in one-half ounce each of lime and lemon juice.  Sweeten with a splash of simple syrup.  Finally, add one cup of ice.  For a creamier, smoother drink, freeze the lime and lemon juices into cubes, and blend those instead of the juice.
  7. Blend the margarita on medium speed for about fifteen seconds, or until smooth.
  8. Pour the drink into your frosted margarita glass.
  9. Garnish the drink with a lime slice on the glass, and serve right away.

Low Calorie Smoothie Recipe Ingredients

  • 2 whole bananas, sliced and frozen
  • 1 cup vanilla soy milk
  • 6 ounces vanilla yogurt (optional)
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Blend the bananas, soy milk and yogurt until smooth. Add the ice and blend until ice is finely chopped and well blended. Add honey and vanilla extract and blend till mixed fully.
